I understand women can have health issues that prevent breastmilk production and that there are mothers who are too busy with work. But why not at least try pumping some breastmilk and storing it in your fridge or freezer?

Most women can produce their own milk for free.

Most women who use formula either do it because they don't like breastfeeding (be it pain or otherwise) or they just plain think it is gross. We are the only species that seems to rely on man-made formulas to survive.

I understand there are women who have had their breasts removed, or they are on medication and can't breastfeed, or they simply can get the girls working but most women who buy this - it is out of choice.

Breast milk is WAY better for the baby so if you have a functioning set, use them! If you don't want to have a baby on your boob, get a pump and milk yourself.

That being said... There was a HUGE factory recall for contaminated formulas that were making babies sick. That has made the shortage worse. The thing that pisses me off is that stores are raising their prices on something that is needed by some women to keep their baby alive. That is some real BS.

It's truly sad and such a shame. There has to be a way to make baby food and baby formula accessible to those who need it without paying out an arm and a leg. The corrupt dominant society and TPTB have deliberately made it to where only the rich and wealthy can birth and properly, adequately care for their babies and kids now.

And you just know that some busy body or Karen will anonymously call the CPS hotline out of spite or faux concern to report certain struggling mothers. CPS will then be dispatched out and use "neglect" and "inability to care for child" as reasons to snatch the kid(s) away from the struggling mothers (mainly Black) who are / were unable to obtain food for their children due to the baby formula / food shortage and other unfortunate circumstances often beyond their control. I did that anyway. When my breastfeeding wasn't enough, pureed fruits, veggie & some Cream of Wheat to satisfy their hunger & give my breastfeeding a break from every 2 hours to 3-4 hours. 😁

there are plenty of options. even on youtube, you can find black people homesteading and living off the grid. I just watched a video a couple of weeks ago where a guy took a coke can, a penny, and a tealight and was able to cook beans over it.

Just look up prepping and survival videos/books. And start slowly stocking up your resources now. you're already behind.

I guess it helps to be in a tight community where you know other mothers who are willing to donate breast milk. I have seen it plenty of times where cats would nurse puppies, dogs would nurse kittens, etc. and yet people in 2022 can't seem to sort something out. It sucks all around.

I know cow's milk is not good for infants (usually not until they are 1 year + in age) but supposedly a good base for formula would be goat's milk.

There are vegan baby formulas on the market these days... I feel like anything a mother can make at home would be better than that, at the very least!

I can't believe this actually happened. One other thing I've been seeing is expired food on store shelves. I bought things twice now from a national chain that were expired. One was expired for 6 months and the other by 3 weeks. It's going to be a rough couple of years.

Mexico has fully stocked shelves and yet here we are in the US with nothing.

I noticed expired food as well. I was getting it shipped to me and was seeing it all over store shelves. I feel like they are leaving items on the shelves longer for one of two reasons...

Either the staff working for these stores are being lazy and not doing all their work (this is what happens when you hire nothing but teens)...

Or they are trying to keep the shelves from looking bare because we are facing shortages all over. I am going to guess it is a bit of both.

We don't need processed formulas or foods for our babies. Evaporated milk, Karo syrup & Alkaline or Spring Water is the recipe for milk, if you can't breastfeed. Puree fruits & veggies, don't buy Gerber or any other processed products! 💯

I have been begging people to prep for almost two years with supplies of food, water, medicine, and things needed because I knew this was coming. This is planned. They need to get rid of people, especially stupid people (sorry) who can't read tea leaves, smoke signals, and bread crumb trails. They've literally been broadcasting since last year when they were giving away the stimulus and extra food stamps that we were going to have food shortages, which sadly includes baby food.

Folks better buy blenders and get back to making their own baby food the way we used to. It's only going to get worse.

Buy seeds (they are pulling them from shelves btw)
Stock up on medications and first aid supplies.
Buy home protection, a variety of things, including things with multiple uses like bow and arrows/axes.
Buy as many nonperishables for your entire family plus four. Rice, canned beans, dry goods, detergents, etc.
Stock up on bottled water. Nuclear war or power grid outages mean you may not have any.
Practicing living with less.
Learn how to cook without power and gas. That time is soon coming.
Buy survival books. Print things that are important to know. No power/ no internet.
Write down important numbers in case you have no phone service.
Talk to old people who survived the depression. Listen and learn.
Plan for the worst. Hope for the best. It's never going back to the way things were.

I completely 100% agree with everything you said. I would just add purchase solar systems for your house and land. I have lived on my land almost a year off of 4 panels and a nearby local access well!!!

I understand women can have health issues that prevent breastmilk production and that there are mothers who are too busy with work. But why not at least try pumping some breastmilk and storing it in your fridge or freezer?

Breast feeding is hard at first but once your nipple is used to it its smooth as butter. My wife breast fed our daughter for the first year and a half of her life.
