This i actually agree with. Cigarettes and bad for you. Not only nor your health, but they are a financial drain on households as well.

The part that I mean by being a financial drain is not only you spending a ton of money on cigarettes. But they cost you to end up in poor help which causes you spending a lot of money on your healthcare as well. Some health insurance companies even charge you higher premiums if you smoke.

Cigarettes need to be made illegal. And the only reason that they haven't is because of lobbyists for big tobacco.

Rather than do something about this politicians take money from lobbyists and let's cigarettes keep killing black Americans year after year. Also they can get a little extra money for their campaign.

What I don’t like is that they are also trying to ban flavored premium cigars as well which is foolish. I love a mocha flavored cigar and if some of that legislation passes they won’t be able to sell the flavored premium cigars anymore.

Biden does it again! The truth is that this administration, with Biden leading the charge, has set its sights on destroying the FBA/ADOS community. This is another example of white supremacy playing both sides of the argument. On one side, they say this ban is meant to save black lives. On the other side, it only targets the black community.

It is shown that we consume 85% of the menthol products in this country. If you are targeting cancer related deaths, then why don't they look at the numbers dealing with white smokers also? The fact that they are trying to pass this legislation is racist in principle. You want to ban menthols but add crack pipes to a drug kit. In the words of Queen Ahmadiyya Shakur, "Make it make sense."

This ban not only targets us through racial lines but will also target us in the justice system. The police will be heavily funded, Biden said it, and they will be policing menthol cigarettes and blunts like crack and weed. So, you mean to tell me, you said no to reparations, but yes to smoking cessation. I am all for the health of my people, but this is just another nothing burger legislation built to segregate us and jail us even more than we were jailed during the late 1800's, 80's and 90's. This is, like Kamala said, what we paid for. And she is correct. This is what we paid for. Our own oppression, once again!

Cigarettes, cigars, and toxic sticks should definitely be banned indiscriminately. Lung cancer, cancer overall, and dying from second hand smoke is horrible.

But here are the daunting facts that no one seems to be talking about:
We cannot trust Biden and the thugs in blue, also known as the police and law enforcement, to handle and implement this plan properly or humanely. This will be the new Crime Bill 3.0 (the Stop Asian Hate by tHe bLAckS panic BS + the Asian Hate bill is the Crime Bill 2.0). And of course they're trying hard like hell to bring back Stop and Frisk in NY. You could be walking to work with a cigarette in your pocket and have a race soldier stop you, check your pockets and find a cigarette, and then arrest and fine you for possessions of cigarettes.

This plan will absolutely disproportionately target Black people just like the war on drugs. White smokers and druggies along with non-Black others will continue to receive their narcan and will not get targeted for obvious reasons. It will definitely cause and outright incentivize corrupt law enforcement race soldiers to come after us even more.

Overpolicing, corruption, incompetence, sick and evil power trips, refusal to de-escalate situations, and continuing to have all of these unpunished and extremist white supremacists and anti-Black racists in the ranks are deadly and dangerous to us as well as public safety.

I can absolutely see huge rises in deaths and casualties by police brutality against Black people because of a ban like this. Imagine a dumbass race soldier thug killing somebody over a damn cigarette. Oh wait, that already happened. But imagine more of this happening.

The problem is that you still have a lot of Black people who are smokers. You know how many Black people I've seen smoke some damn Newports? Biden's nasty ass with his crackheaded ass son knows what he is doing and who this will target. It's truly a shame and it's fucking sick because this ban really sounds like a good thing on the surface, but it's likely just another "war on drugs" type bill in disguise that will be used to criminally hurt and attack us.

What needs to happen is that just like they went after big pharma and company for helping to create the opioid crisis, they also need to go after these damn tobacco / menthol / nicotine companies and manufacturers. They should also offer free quality care for people to get off of the cigarettes and heal their menthol / nicotine addiction. And instead of arresting people for possession, they should just take drugs and cigarettes away from the smokers like they do with the white druggies.

When they proposed flavored cigar bans in DC a few years back, the bill didn't target premium cigars.
The bill went after flavored cigarillos & the cheap fruity cigars that are used to smoke marijuana. I haven't read the new FDA proposal yet, but I would imagine that those things (they don't deserve to be called cigars) are what they are banning.

That's another thing. With the constant and insane inflation of everything, people out of work, and the lack of decent paying jobs available, this will create a crime of opportunity. Biden Administration and friends are allowing this to happen and helped to foster and create this current environment. And they are doing as much as possible to "refund the police" so that the police can chase after and lock up more Black people over the new "war on cigarettes." Banning alcohol didn't work, and unfortunately banning cigarettes likely won't work either, especially since they have become a part of many cultures. It was too late the moment that addictive cigarettes and alcohol were created and made widely available to the public. Life doesn't have an undo button.

I can understand that as I used to smoke a cigar here and there.
I my change my ideology on it. Tobacco is a poison. A poison that is able to be sold legally. So I'm completely against tobacco in all forms.

I don't some and I can't understand why people smoke when they are well aware of the implications of smoking based on their health. My uncle is suffering from cancer of the lungs as a result of years of smoking and he's yet to stop it. The last time we had a talk about his health and not smoking again, he told me he's going to die from it, why should he stop now?

That’s what I would like to see here too. If the goal is to ensure it stays out of the hands of kids, the premijm price is a great deterrent.

I don't smoke, therefore, the ban will have no effect on me, however, when I was in my teens I tried menthol cigarattes. It had a soothing effect on my neck. I like smoking menthol cigarettes whenever I had a cold.
