Record numbers of Blacks have moved out of Chicago and LA as well. I am still scratching my head how anyone can afford to live in NYC.

I have a friend who got 200k a year job in Manhattan. His wife (no kids) can easily find a 70k or more job there, master's degree. They are from Florida originally.

He said he looked at rent prices and after calculating take home pay had to rent in New Jersey if he wanted to have any decent amount left to save and/or invest.

After 6 months they are looking at jobs in other states.

Blacks didn't survive as community in NYC because we are one of the only communities that don't act as a group. Italians in Bensonhurst, Bay Ridge, who own homes pass them down to their kids or to other Italians. The Hasidic jews in Williamsburg, Brooklyn who own homes will either pass it down to their kids or only sell to other Hasidic jews. Not even other non Hasidic jews can buy in.

Chinatown NYC, has a community organization that will buy the property there if you want to sell and don't have kids and to keep it in Chinese owned hands.

Black people who own homes in NYC will openly and willingly sell to gentrifiers. Even Latinos look out for each other more. Blacks leaving NYC and not having a base there is our own fault as a community. I can't remember the politicians name but a black politican in Harlem a while back, many years ago, openly said he wanted Harlem to look demographically different.

It doesn't matter. Earth isn't our true home anyway. I've mentioned EXODUS long before now.

I keep it one buck all around, so I will also put a certain part on the blame on the high black Caribbean population in NYC who will sell to a white boy with no qualms about the neighborhood, even if the neighborhood is Caribbean like Flatbush. Flatbush used to be predominantly Caribbean blacks. Homes, businesses, etc and they sold out to gentrifiers. FBAs in Harlem sold out to latinos mostly and since the 00s white boys. It was Harlem movers and shakers that talked Bill Clinton into moving his office to Harlem in hopes of showing white businesses its safe to move up there.

A lot of people don't know this but there is an Italian area of Harlem, in east Harlem. John Gotti was born in Harlem, believe it or not. Anyway, the Italians that moved there were recent arrivals who couldn't afford Little Italy and other Italian enclaves because the prices had gone up. Blacks let them live in east Harlem and these same Italians turned around and formed mafia groups to take over the numbers and drugs in black Harlem.

NYC has not been safe in decades. I really hope this inspires black families to take up less populated cities and build they own foundation. While everyone is focused on these LGBT issues and other BS, people need to make their moves. Find out which states have cheap land and come together and form save havens for black families that prioritize hard work, family love, and togetherness. If the thugs and hood rats wanna keep living that lifestyle and stay in the cities, let them.

NYC will be fine. It's too big and important globally for it not to be. The only thing that will change are the demographics. There are a handful of global cities that are always going to be relevant. They may fall on hard times, just like any city or country but they aren't going to die off.

NYC along with London, Tokyo, Paris and a few others will always be relevant.

That being said, we as a community may not be there in any large numbers but the city itself will be as a relevant force.
