When I realized after 5 years on an economic escalator that it was actually a 5 year hamster wheel I knew I had to find a way off the plantation.
2 years later Im on my own land in a house. I now have something to show for my life as well as to pass down to my children.

She does lay it plain to the point where even us non-immigrants had to buck up :) your terminology is definitely what I would use, a hamster wheel ... Everybody has to find their own exit .. You have us an excellent case study of what we all need to be striving for
