I used to be into Halloween a lot growing up, for obvious reason. Being able to hang out late, getting candy with friends, and dressing up as your favorite characters. But now days, the holiday doesn't hit like it used to. I still watch a ton of Horror movies during the month, but I don't get dressed up much these days. If I have a party to go to, I do sometimes dress up, but I don't go all in and make an awesome costume.

But, I see my nieces and nephews getting into the holiday, and now I kinda want to get serious about it again. I know when I have kids of my own, I will have a renewed interest in Halloween, because then I'll be showing them my favorite horror movies (when they're old enough of course) and my favorite Halloween traditions.

Anyway, do you celebrate Halloween? Do you get dressed up every year? Do you go out to Halloween parties and events? Better yet, what do you guys do on Halloween?

I never really celebrated Halloween as a child, apart from one night when I went trick or treating with my cousins back in the day but that's it.

I take my son trick or treating and I don’t see no harm in it. If a holiday is enough to get your kid worshipping pagan traditions then you clearly weren’t doing much doing the other days of the year.

I don’t celebrate 4th of July but I will watch the fireworks and give my son a lecture on how on that day in history we would have been enslaved.

Teach the babies because they’re probably already wondering why lil Biff or lil Karen is always telling on him for no reason 🥴🥰

For real. The school system didn’t even wait til my son got out of kindergarten to start on that “your son needs special attention” BS.

My wife's favorite Holiday is Halloween. The most we do for the Holiday is decorate and we hand out candy to the trick or treaters. I'm going to ask my manager and see if we can dress up at work, last year we were able to dress up and my work posted the pictures on Facebook. I didn't dress up last year though.

I taught lil Biff & lil Barbie early not to mess with me, this was in elementary school during integration.
The last one that was 3 pieced lived upstairs, before I left TX. She moved out the very next day.

I don't celebrate Halloween. I might watch a horror movie. That's about it.

I did a lot of stuff on Halloween when I was younger but kinda grew out of it pretty fast. I remember being around 12 years old maybe, and that was probably the last time I went trick or treating.

The way the holiday has been commercialized, has kinda taken the religious side of it out. But I never celebrated Halloween as a pagan holiday. For me, it's just a day to watch horror movies.

Nah...I didn't care for Halloween much. I went Trick or Treating once. Since I didn't have much of a sweet tooth in regards to candy, it just wasn't a big deal for me.
I used to take my children, before the poisoning & the razor blades. Then, I'd just buy the plastic pumpkins & fill them with treats.

Stay away from pagan satanic "holydays", brother. It will only attract negative energy.

I don't think celebrating the Halloween can bring any negative energy. It is all about how you think and reason about such situations. I went to trick or treat with a friend earlier yesterday and it was fun.

There's always an essence and a spirit to these things. There's a reason they say "Where's your holiday spirit?" "Spirit of Christmas" "Halloween Spirit". It doesn't matter what we think of it. The root is always there and matters over everything else.

Oh well, I am not a committed Christian and that might have been one of the reasons I am always not keen to check out these other facts.

Yea, a while back I started researching the origins and original customs of a lot of these "holidays" and what I learned was very eye opening. None of it is innocent and celebrating them now tricks you (in a way) to worship strange gods. When the whole time, you thought you were doing something as seemingly innocent as handing candy out to children.

Growing up I did. It was what people did and were doing. My dad loved taking me and my brothers. My mom stayed home to pass out candy. I loved it as a kid but when I hit 12/13, I stopped caring so much about it. I never got into the party life so once I grew out of Halloween as a child, I stopped celebrating it. I celebrate fall if anything since I love the season.

My last Halloween event was a high school dance/costume party, THE END. 😁

Halloween isn't my thing so much. I don't even usually buy candy, cause we rarely get kids in my area. And if I do get candy, I'll be the one to eat all of it, and I don't want to end up doing that now.

Anyway, when I have kids, I'd take them out trick or treating. I know I loved going out on Halloween every year. I think I stopped when I was around 14, so I ended up doing it a bit too long haha. I mean, free candy dude, can't go wrong.

Halloween was not always a major thing in the UK. Its getting more popular now. Its been getting popular for maybe the last 10-12 years.
I heard about this. It is funny because the tradition actually started in the UK. It was a means to ward of demons and witches. Look into the back story of it. It is crazy we let our kids participate in it. I guess it is nothing but consumerism at this point though.

Starting as All Hallows Eve, irony is not lost on me that it began in the UK. 🙄😄

Yeah this was all part of the witch hunts and everything. You know, when they started killing their cats and caused the black plague (no cats = no rat control = disease) because of their ignorance. People can be real idiots I'll tell you! haha

Nah I was done with that in the 90's....nobody had candy anymore and the parties was getting shot up
