I collect hat's, watches, vinyl, speakers and cologne and the amount of computers I have some would say I collect those too. Lol.
I used to have a huge record collection when I was in my teens (trying to be a D. J.) lost them all in a fire, and my equipment. 😩
Nice, I used to have a small hat collection but I gave a lot of them away to family. I still have a few in my closet that I wear. I never heard of collecting cologne, but I know there are some that come in cool bottles and some that are pretty high in price. So I can see people collecting them. Sorry to hear about your record collection, that sucks. :(
Only thing I really collect is key chains lol I used to travel a lot so I would try to get one from each new city I went to. Other than that, I'm not a big collector.
I had a TMNT keychain growing up, and had a few others my parents would get me, but haven't purchased a keychain in well over 10-15 years maybe. Still though, I've been tempted to find the TMNT keychain I had as a kid, because I brought that keychain everywhere when I was a kid.
I used to collect music. Back then, I had quite an extensive CD collection that delved in touches of Soul/R&B/Funk/Hip Hop/House/Jazz. It was never where I wanted it to be, but at the same time, it was growing. I always dreamed of having a massive music room that would house all of my collection. From current to ol skool to rarities to imports, I was all in it, because I loved music that much. However, life happened, and my priorities changed. Not to mention, I fell on hard times, sooooo from pawning to just losing track, all fell apart. I would try and relaunch my one time massive collection, but things just weren't ever the same. I would eventually move on. I often reminisce and laugh, but what's truly inside forever remains, and that's the overall knowledge of it all, from genres to artists.
That would be cool. When I collected CDs, I had wanted to collect enough to make my own music room. But my collection wasn't big by any means, maybe 40 cds or so that I'd guestimate. I mostly downloaded music, so my CD collection was always small. Now days I kinda want to collect vinyl, as the sound quality is often better than CD and MP3 anyway.
Sorry to hear you had to sell a lot of it. I sold off some of my gaming collection years ago, and I regret doing it. But sometimes we gotta find money somewhere. Plus I think it's partly why I collect stuff, that in the case of an emergency I have a backup in my collections. Yeah it sucks having to sell any of it off, but sometimes you just gotta push through.
That's unfortunate, I'm sure you had some real treasures. On the positive side you have 15 million tracks ready for you on spotify. You can build playlists and then attempt to find the physical records to each song. Allows you to rebuild it in your mind first and then build it in reality.
Truthfully, I am my own search engine lol Spotify and the rest are aight lol Yes, my memory is that vivid and deep. I might rebuild down the line, but as of now, eh lol
I honestly utilize spotify quite a bit. Since I don't really buy physical as much as I used to, it really comes in handy. And hey, we at least don't have to download most music anymore, as Spotify has pretty much everything, and it's free. Sure you get ads, but honestly I tune those out most of the time. For free users though, you can only play albums in random order, but if you just make playlists, you don't have to worry about that. :D
Spotify won't get you every artist though. I know some artists hate Spotify, because they take most of the money while the artists make little. Or so I've heard.
