A friend of mine at work is obsessed with them. He is a gay black man and I for the life of me can't figure out why he enjoys them. If you look into the genre, it is always some white cowboy hero in a city or town of white people. Like I get that back then, that is who you'd find in the west primarily but the movies feel like they were overly white in comparison to history. I just don't see the appeal based on that alone. Maybe that is just me?

Yeah, they are a product of the time, a lot of them were mostly about white dudes saving the day. I enjoy a few westerns, especially the Italian spaghetti westerns from like Sergio Leone, especially ones with Clint Eastwood. Was never a fan of stuff by the likes of John Wayne, because I'm pretty sure he was racist anyway.

The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly is one of my favorites. I watched Once Upon a Time in the West for the first time recently as well and that movie has become a favorite of mine. This scene is great, especially with the music.

There's some good ones out there, but there's a ton of bad ones too. I liked the remake of 3:10 to Yuma that came out over 10 years ago as well. I'm sure I'm forgetting some others. But hey, that new The Harder They Fall movie is good too.

Never liked them,couldn't relate only seeing white people as heroes or saviors, I really wish some of the few black directors we have would make some, the last few I've seen with black leads are good. Magnificent seven, harder they fall and hateful 8. All Exellent movies
