Emmett Till, Mamie Till-Mobley Posthumously Awarded Congressional Medal But Still No Justice
If she was still alive, I think she'd rather there be a conviction for the woman who caused her sons death. This is nice and all, but if she was alive, I'm willing to bet she'd want a conviction rather than anything else. An award is nothing compared to putting away the person responsible for your childs death.
The symbolisn is getting si old it's nauseating. They need to just cut our check and get on somewhere. Clearly they are not interested in true justice.
This is all sick, cruel joke as well as a grand insult, a disgraceful symbolic acknowledgement with disdainful undertones, a performative spit in the face, and a passive aggressive backhanded compliment. This is sheer anti-Black racist hostility and a psychological attack/insult against us that is being disguised as some noble pro-Black celebration that Black people should cheer on.
