As they do in Politics, they also do in sports and entertainment. These Sportsheads and coaches keep talking about how difficult the it would be on teams and bowl games. If anything the first set of playoff games has shown us the that the sponsors will adjust. The proposed format will be a 12 team format, I think 1 and 2 seeds would get a bye.
*The only issue they have is with the SEC not being able to get double seeding currently and during the BCS years*. This proposed playoff format should include Power5 and GroupOf5 Champions ONLY as well as Independent teams with 1 loss, double-seeding selection should only be determined by the conference directors on an annual rotation basis for all 10 conferences.

As a total laymen I'm trying to understand what the real issue is beyond on the theatrics. The two people on the screen are acting like most news people do.

    What's the benefit of expansion?

The true benefit of expansion (at FBS-FootballBowlSubdivision) is to allow teams to display championship programs on the field instead of [I'm white and I say so] Polls or publications crowning champions like they did before the CFP. Powerful alumni and administrators have a vested interest in creating double seeding, but the correct way to do it is at the FCS (FootballChampionshipSubdivision) level with champions only and reserving at-large play in bids to MEAC/SWAC/Independent schools.

☆They are talking about it now because those rating are taking a deep everytime we SEC rematches and HBCUs competing for recruiting and ratings.

Oh so let me get it right. I remember before the playoff system they had some computer system that determined who would go to the bowl games right? They have some resemblance of that still but it determines who makes it into the playoffs. If you expand the playoffs it makes it so that teams have to perform through more levels to get to a championship game rather than being one level away and you’re placed there by a poll or algorithm.

March Madness seems to work pretty well I wonder why don’t they go that route. Basically they want to have a means to stop competitive teams from getting to the championship. They have a subjective rather than objective gate that they can use to block teams arbitrarily.

That one was called the Bowl Championship Series, they had 4 games to display and they would rotate as a host Championship site, then went to a plus one model with the same four games then the Championship a week later. Now its a final four of random conference champion and non champion teams with "very good strength schedule". The crazy part is that the sponsors have literally made changes from "BowlGame", to"SemiFinal", the administrators are the issue once again...

I’m not the sharpest when it comes to this shit but the strength of schedule is bull jive. You may have 5 teams:

    A 4.75
    B 4.50
    C 4.25
    D 4.00
    E 3.75

A can beat B,C,D but E can beat A but E can’t play because of the strength of schedule. In College Football, the best team doesn’t always win.

The SEC and ES(EC)PN are too busy trying to find a way to cash in billions together while screwing over the other conferences. But aside from that the playoff field needs to be expanded simply off principle. You can't call them the POWER 5 when only 4 teams get in.....They need to expand to 8 teams. 5 Conference champions and then the next best 3 teams. most likely the runners up of those conference title games. Notre Dame needs to continue to be on the outside looking in because they don't play in a conference. And until they do so they should be invited to play for a title....period. They need to either join the Big 10(they play with us in basketball) or the ACC otherwise they need to piss off.
