Have you ever gone to a small concert for someone who is very famous? Maybe it was before they became famous, or maybe it was after and they went back to their roots performing at a small venue. I've see some acts in small venues, but I don't recall anyone too famous ever playing at them. Did you ever get to see an artist before they hit their prime? What was it like when you found out they hit it famous?

If you're a jazz buff, I saw Sun Ra playing in small jazz room in the Embarcadero, also Stan Getz and Cal Tjader all in downtown second story small venues in San Francisco.

Going back a bit; I saw the original Pink Floyd, I saw the Grateful Dead play for free in Golden Gate Park, and a few others.

I saw Jazz artist Darren Rahn at a restaurant it was so dope. The small intimate setting just made you connect more. I love small concerts…I could never do a Coachella. If there’s no seats I won’t be there.

I seen Scarface live at the Boutwell here. The performance isnt recorded I mean accounted. It was his "My Homies" tour, awhile back.I think he stopped here to make some more money after leaving Georgia or something. It was no more than seventy five people there. He talked with us and performed whatever song we requested. Also when I seen Kat Williams when the American Hustle dropped. I thought it would be more people there. It was about five or six hundred people.

Nice, that's awesome! I think I heard of Sun Ra before. Pretty sure my dad was into his music some. Will have to ask him about it, he might have some records of his.

Seeing a classic rock group like Pink Floyd live would be cool. It's surprising a few of the band members are still alive.

Yeah I can see that. It probably feels like the singer is just singing to a small set of people. I can see that making it feel a lot more special and unique.

For small venues, I've seen Miles Jaye, CeCe Winans, & Wu-Tang. I would've loved to see one of Prince's infamous afterparty jam sessions.
I bet Wu-Tang was awesome live, even in a small setting. Prince too, he probably had some crazy parties.

That's awesome! No one recorded it? These days it probably doesn't happen as much with smartphones being in everyone's pockets.

Prince let some of the women in the front row on stage. You KNOW we in the south. OUR women were gigantic compared to him.Thet wasnt fat. They was thik. But you know Prince is a short guy. They was bouncing him all round the stage but he loved dat ish. He did sets with the band, acoustic sets, accapella Yea he just went hard.
