Have you ever had to go to the hospital for anything major?

Years ago I had to go to the hospital because I had a kidney stone. My side was just painful, and felt like muscle pain, but it was constant and wouldn't go away. It also kinda reminded me of growing pains, I have that feeling sometimes. Anyway, for the kidney stone, I had to drink a lot of water, and had to pass it. Surprisingly, it didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would. It was more weird, I felt more like there was pressure when it happened.

I wish kidney stones on no one though. They are a literal pain to deal with. And even though I was lucky and was able to pass it, some people aren't and have to get treatment to break the stone up, or surgery.

Anyway, that's my hospital story. Do you guys have one?

Kidney Stones are definitely one of my fears. My brother had to pass one and much like you he made it seem like the second coming of satan. Only major hospitalization I’ve had is an abscess in my throat blocking my breathing and ability to swallow. Went to ER, waited 8 hours in the worse pain ever, one they got me on the IV I felt so good.

They are honestly some of the worst pain I've ever dealt with. Another woman I met while in the hospital, said she had kidney stones and compared it to childbirth. But, I hear females have worse kidney stones.

Yikes, I'm sorry to hear that. Abscesses are no joke. Had to get one cut from my side years ago. They used local anesthesia on the tissue near it, but it didn't numb it enough. Doctor said it wouldn't because of the tissue being infected, or dead, or something. So it hurt a bit. Oddly enough, it was right in the doctor's office during my initial appointment. I guess he didn't want to schedule surgery or anything and just decided to cut it out himself.

I couldn't imagine what it'd be like to have one in the back of your throat though. Damn!

I've heard kidney stones are one of the worst things to go through. Luckily, I've never had anything major take me to the hospital. I've had some injuries from sports but that's about it.
They suck big time. Like I said above, I've heard a woman mention they can be worse than childbirth, I wouldn't know that feeling myself, but I could only imagine.

When I urinated the stone out, my doctor gave me pills to relax my urethra, so that it would be easier to pass the stone. Thank goodness, because if I didn't have that, it probably would have hurt even worse when it came out.

I've had my share of injuries in sports, thankfully no breaks, just sprains and beat up a lot haha.

May God save us from Hospitals cuz they are scary if you don't have insurance. I had a kidney infection when I was like 6 and boy had to stay there for like 10 days. and kinda gets scary.
I imagine that's due to the kidney infection though, considering it's a very serious thing. I imagine doctors need more time to make sure you're going to be okay and recover. To me 10 days sounds like the right amount, but I'm not a doctor either.

It was brutal, my face was swollen and I was in immense pain. I also had a ton of mucus build up in my throat that after 3 days I could get up anymore. One night I just got tired of dealing with it and went to urgent care and the gave me antibiotics. After the 4th day there was no change and so I went to the emergency room and they did emergency surgery. Life is precious, I could have died, i felt like I got a new lease on life.

I don't know if this counts, but I was having heart palpitations and thought I was having a heart attack. This was like in 2014 and 2016. They basically told me they couldn't find anything and that it was stress related. I haven't been back.

Also, in 1998, I was in a go-cart accident and they had to remove gravel that was stuck in my leg to keep it from being infected.

I know I will have to stop eating so much sugary drinks before something happens to my kidneys.

I bet it is painful. From what I have heard, it was almost like nothing else mattered.

I don't know of anybody personally who has had a kidney stone. I have seen folks online talking about they had one.
