I wanted to mention this. I think it is important for people to understand how the body functions in relation to the sun.

In order to get D3, we need to spend time in the sun. Most people know this. What most people don't understand is that the darker your completion and the more fat you have on your body, the more time you need for your body to actually produce it. A fair-skinned person (think redheads) needs a quarter of the amount of time in the sun as a black person of the same size. You will need more time if you are overweight, and more time if you are older.

I feel a lot of health issues stem from the fact that we just don't get enough sunshine. I am mixed so I don't need as much as my black friends/family but I need more than that of my white friends/family.

When we don't get enough D3, it affects our mental health, bone health, immunity, and more. What you eat matters but I feel like this is overlooked by a lot of people because most don't think anything of it. It is estimated that in the US alone, over 70% of adults are D3 deficient and I can bet you those numbers are higher in black people, especially black women who are overweight. I think people could benefit from getting their levels checked once a year and making sure we make the most out of summer, especially if you live in an area that has 4 seasons where D3 production is basically 0% in the winter.

I am giving this a bump. I read into it even more and it is bad. One major issue facing a lot of black women in the US is the rise of cases of Lupus and some doctors and scientists believe there is a connection to vitamin D3 since it plays a big role in our immune system and overall health.

    Here is a study:

Ladies, make sure you are getting a nice dose of D - and I don't mean just in the bedroom! We can't keep relying on a busted medical system in a society that makes money off of our suffering.

The need to get enough sunshine can't be overemphasized. I see folks trying to stay away from the sun when we visited Milan, Italy three years ago and I had to educate them on the need to 'feel the sunshine'. You cannot get enough of it especially when you are living in some parts of US.

This is why I'm so much in love with summer season. It's the best season for me no matter what any other person thinks. Even though I'm not a woman, I know very well how important the early morning sun is for my body. I casually sit under it for at least 20 minutes every morning.

A bright sunny day is undefeated. Something about it makes me feel connected to the world, hard to explain. Going to the beach on a sunny day without a phone is hypnotizing. It’s just you and the waves with the sun, I need to do it more.

I did this for 12 hours in Maui and it was so refreshing. I rented a Cabana right on the water…we had food and drink being brought to us all day.

Working in a clinic, seeing so many of our women unwell I can't help but acknowledge stuff like this and wonder why doctors are not focusing more on working with the body for better health. We are designed to be in the sun yet doctors tell us to fear it.
That's NOT for us, but them. We don't get skin cancer from the sun. The sun is pure vitamins for us. Enriches our Melanin, giving us that SOUL GLOW! 😍

Most of my family members stay inside all day except when they go to work, gas station or grocery store. In other words, they do not get much sunshine at all and are on all kinds of medication. This could possibly be prevented by getting more sunshine.

Oh for sure. Many medical issues start out as a deficiency and people and doctors ignore that. Our diets are mostly crap and we wonder why so many people are sick in the US. Couple this with stress and lack of sunlight, it is a mess waiting to happen.

I am mixed so my skin is more sensitive than a full-blooded black woman but I am half Italian so I have that working in my favor. It is those pale people who have the most to worry about. But again, D3 and lack thereof increases skin damage. It is a double-edged sword! If you get too much at once, damage but if you don't get enough, damage!

Yep. We need to go back to many of the older effective strategies.
More sunshine, more water, less stress, growing our own crops and making homecooked meals again. Life expectancy is not as long for Millennials as it is for Boomers. Gen Z is even worse. It all comes down to bad dieting and not taking care of ourselves. We let the government regulate to damn much.

It's a normal routine for me to always take the early morning sun and it's not always harsh on the skin like the real hot sun we usually get in the summer afternoon wants to roast one's skin. It's one of the best things nature have to offer us that doesn't cost us anything.
I have a friend who does this. She is actually very fair-skinned and will burn so she makes sure to get in the sun before 10AM every day in the summer. I really need to be out on it more.

I had this same conversation with my spouse yesterday when I complained about joint pain and he drew my attention to the fact that I have not been getting enough sunshine lately. Coming across this post has shed more light to this fact. I need to make a conscious effort to have more outdoor activities because of my black melanin.

You found yourself a good one! I know there are good docs out there but so many of them live by the books and do whatever the money tells them to. They push pills, not better health. So sad!

I was surprised to learn that Black people developed sun burns. That was a new concept to me.
She isn't black, I don't know of a single black man or woman who burns. Some who are mixed can but it is rare. I think some just get lighter skin which I always found fascinating. A friend I had growing up never wore shorts and in gym class, they made you. Her legs were jet black!

Awesome! We need more doctors like this, ones we can feel comfortable with and who listen to us and genuinely want to work with our bodies to heal and repair instead of shooting us up and putting pills down our throats. It scares me that so few people question mainstream medical practices in the US.

The past few days I have been doing out in the sun when it first comes up in the morning, in the middle of the day and right as it is setting.

The ansestors had great respect for the sun

The six ways of how we energize are

    Grounding= bare feet on ground
    Sunshine=
    Oxygen=
    Meditation=
    Diet=
    Exercise=

And i feel like sex should be there too

I am working on some of these now but some I struggle with. I do know that they are reducing the oxygen in the air. We will have to find ways to add new oxygen in the air by planting trees.

Yes that is likely the hardest one due to the air quality.

More and more studies are being done on the effects of deep breathing and it is mind-blowing. I think a lot of people do not breathe properly today and that is why so many struggle with things like asthma, allergies, anxiety, etc.
Defidlnitly the elders used breathwork to strengthen stamina as well as to fuel things like the kundelini sextual energy

Great points. I saw something like this yesterday where it said enough people do not practice mindfulness. It did suggest what you said as a solution.

I believe God put everything in nature our bodies need to heal, repair, and maintain health. A doc I used to see said health is the state of continual breakdown and repair where the body is repairing more than it is breaking down. Disease or "dis ease" is when the body is breaking down faster than it can be repaired.

mann, dis ease that puts a whole nother level of understanding on it well done. That explains why stress is so damaging too.

Yup! I think this is why so many people are sick today. They are treating symptoms of "dis ease" instead of finding out why the body is having issues. The pharmaceutical industry is a trillion-dollar one and isn't going away anytime soon.

It is hard to know what is natural anymore. I am stunned by how they have quietly changed some of the natural things in society to where people do not even realize that certain fruits and vegetables have been altered over time to where they do not have the same nutritional benefits as they once did. The people in control of this system are in cahoots with some of these farmers. The farmers that attempt to speak out about how they are forcing some of them to plant seeds that are tainted are silenced or threatened. We can get back to our natural state if we can get our hands on natural foods.

When you talk seeds, go with non-GMO. Those are not modified. Organic doesn't mean anything today. Just means no pesticides were used ON the plant, doesn't mean they weren't used IN the plant (seed form).
