If you don’t own any property there isn’t much that can be done. You basically have to make it so that there is a price to pay for anyone moving into the neighborhood. They have to feel unsafe and that they will lose their investment if they are encroach. Outside of that, shit is gone.

What we should keep doing is acquiring more properties. Assets that give a sense of belonging. They can only try to come in, but Blacks being in control of the economical system will give us the upper hand.

As I said before in several threads, we need to get land and start the process as a collective. Get everyone involved on the same page. We can't let freeloaders be a part of the movement or they will ruin it. I still think reparations should come in the form of land because the land is more powerful than some monthly checks. Allow people to opt-out if they want and get cash. The smart ones will take the land and we can build something amazing with it.

Even if you do own your property outright, they can still find "legal" methods and loopholes to push you out and take the property you rightfully own. They can even raise property taxes on the property you own to financially cripple you to the point where you have to sell the house and move. Let's face it. Black people as a whole have been economically deprived and due to continued disparities and systemic racist discrimination and oppression, we are unable to obtain and keep any wealth we get in the long term. The less wealth we have, the less likely we are able to buy or even keep the house after we buy it. You hear all the time on how Black people are losing the homes they bought because they either could no longer afford it or they couldn't really afford it in the first place.

Land was what was promised originally, right? There is more value and power in land than money so letting people choose seems best. You know a lot of people would just piss away that money on ignorant shit anyways. Probably won't see either for a long time, but I think we are heading in the right direction. More and more people are voicing about it and people on the outside are saying they support it cause they know it is the right thing to do.

In order to do that one has to have resources to invest into the community and willing people and businesses within the community willing to work with the individuals looking to gentrify.

So if we don’t own the residential property or the commercial property and we don’t control the economy then there is no way we can push back against gentrification.

Best we can do is boycott or follow Harbinger’s advice. But in a lot of these cases these neighborhoods that are being gentrified are not our neighborhoods. They were simply areas white people allowed us to live after white flight.

It was their community the whole time and they’re essentially evicting us from it by using the economy.

This is exactly correct. You and Harbinger both hit the nail on the head. White people only speak two languages: loss of life and loss of finance. They need to fear encroachment of an entirely black owned and financed community, to the point that they understand any attempts of an overthrow will leave them either broke or dead.

When I started researching about the real estate investing game, you see the power and influence owning property and having the ability to buy, fix, hold and/or reselling can have in any given community. You can quite literally drive the demographic of your community just based on what options you're willing to provide for a potential homeowner. Add in commercial property ownership and now you're influencing (and controlling) who can generate and how you generate income in that community. This opens up lanes to employ our own, safeguard and defend our own. With a a united effort, the community could maybe even go as far as putting forth a vote to un-incorporate itself from whatever municipality it's associated with so that there is true autonomy (with some exceptions for certain rules, I'm sure). Anyway, sorry I went on a micro-tangent.

When you talk about being productive and self sufficient, you can't do it without land and you can't get into agriculture without land. It's why land is a very important variable to start up in the direction we are looking for.

The why Chinatown in NYC, Koreatown in LA and other longstanding ethnic enclaves stay un-gentrified is the same thing we have been preaching hard, A CODE! They have a code. If a Korean, Chinese, Arab (Detroit) homeowner doesn't have a child to take over the home, business, they will ONLY sell to a fellow person in their ethnic group. Italian neighborhoods on the east coast been doing that for decades.

The problem isn't so much acquiring properties, the first line of defense is all these (Jason Black voice) 'oooooooold n*ggas' selling to white folks who are there to buy the home for flipping or whatever.

In our greatgrandparents time, they instilled pride in the family home. It was passed down generationally. Why did it stop? Integration and higher education. 60 years ago we were mainly going to HBCUs. PWI universities opened up. That family home was now inherited by someone who has their master's great job and wants to move to the suburbs. Okay, they don't want to be in the hood, the neighborhood has changed from bad to worse or whatever, they sell to any white man with a check. No pride in the home that may have raised 3 generations.

A black guy I know was doing a real estate deal in LA for a black homeowner. The home was selling for 550k. Home prices were going up. A group of young brothers were getting into real estate and wanted to keep it black. They upped their bid to 595k. Some white man bid 600k and he sold it to the white man. The brothers couldn't do any higher. His commission and the home owner wasn't going to get that much difference. The home was bought 30 years before for maybe a bit over 100k. I said, is 5k that big of an amount to keep it black knowing the area is turning white? He took the I'm a capitalist approach.

The young people in Chinatown NYC who are now doctors, engineers, and inherited great grandparents Chinese restaurant with the apartment on top, are now living elsewhere, don't want to work that business. Chinatown has an association that will buy the business from them. All others pool their money and say 'We'll find you a Chinese buyer or buy it ourselves rather than it going to some white man'. It's on code. Its getting harder and harder because the prices in NYC are so ridiculously high but that's how they kept it Chinese and kept their culture.

Rich black Angelenos, Harlemites etc should be doing what the Chinese do in Chinatown.

For sure! That is why being a land owner comes with so much power. I think this is why a lot of people get into the rental property business, they have egos and know they can boss people around. It gives them an edge and feeds their ego.
