In celebration of the launch of our sponsor's new novel "Nothing Will Come Between Us" we would like to know your opinion regarding our lives post-reparations.
  • What does a post-reparations America look like to you?
  • Where would we live?
  • Who would be our enemies?
  • What should be our priorities?
  • How should we ensure that everyone remains on code?
The novel "Nothing Will Come Between Us" is Author Josiah Jay Starr's take on all of the above.

Nothing WIll Come Between Us 255.png

The novel presents this alt-reality through the eyes of Nuria Sellers, an Agent who finds purpose in defending her Colony against Anti-Black threats. What we really like about Nothing Will Come Between Us is its grounded nature. Nuria is not your sterile comic book cut-out hero; she is gritty, nuanced, and imperfect. In this narrative we find her navigating the struggles of a post-reparations America in addition to the traumas of PTSD, constant betrayal, and the stressors of a failing marriage. Nothing Will Come Between Us is Black and proud, this is not a book that caters to White American sensibilities. This is by us and for us. It tells the narrative as if it's you, me, and us going through the trials and tribulations of an American society dealing with Black American equity.

P.S Author @josiah starr will be available to answer any questions you may have about the novel or any other works of Spirit of 1811 Publishing.

man if we get reparations we gon’ have to be ready to handle our business against all the anti-Black people in this country. If we ain’t got our kit kats ready we gon be lunch meat.
  • What does a post-reparations America look like to you?
    • Some niggas gon squander it but the real movers and shakers will start forming and building communities. We will start cooperatng and arming ourselves.
  • Where would we live?
    • We’d start building enclaves most likely in the South.
  • Who would be our enemies?
    • White supremacy and its minions.
  • What should be our priorities?
    • Self-sufficiency at all costs. Trying to live as far off the grid as possible. We need contingencies.
  • How should we ensure that everyone remains on code?
    • Punishment however it needs to be provided economic, social, etc
@josiah starr what was your biggest inspiration for writing the book? How did you go about choosing a woman as the main character? I think it’s easy to default to a dude so picking a woman is dope? Did you struggle with having her maintain her femininity? Is there a paperback?

    • What does a post-reparations America look like to you?
Sadly I think a large portion of FBA would trick off the money
    • Where would we live?
I'd stay right where I am, unless we had significant numbers who wanted to create our own community
    • Who would be our enemies?
      Everyone not FBA
    • What should be our priorities?
      Security, Economics.
    • How should we ensure that everyone remains on code?
      Bring back the "Drop Squads"

What does a post-reparations America look like to you?

Same as now but with more resources to protect ourselves but also fiercer threats.

    Where would we live?

Most will stay where they are. Some will move to build communities. Once the communities are built more will leave to joint the communities.

    Who would be our enemies?

    Same as now.

    What should be our priorities?

Defense and independence from the white supremacist infrastructure. We need to control our water, power, etc.

How should we ensure that everyone remains on code?

@josiah starr the manosphere has went on a crusade to put the woman “in her place” aka standing behind the man. Did that impact you at all when deciding to make Nuria the main character in this novel?

    Bruh Man:

My biggest inspiration for this novel was the singer, Sade and her song Nothing Can Come Between Us. Hearing the song reminds of the plight Black Men and Women have, particularly in today's world. Everyone and everything desires to separate us. From Feminism to White LGBTQ Extremists.....the love that is shared between Black Men and Women is under constant siege.

Pouring femininity into the character was hard but I got the hang of it. It surely helped that Nuria Sellers is a bit of a tomboy and a little too mouthy at times, so it wasn't too bad, which allowed me to have fun with the character.

Both Paperback and Hardcover are in the works. I'm waiting on my cover designer to put the finishing touches on the exterior design so we can have it printed and inspect proof copies. I don't want to put subpar products out. Spirit of 1811 Publishing is and aggressive content and competitive quality.

I'm very confident that both paperback and hardcovers options will be available well before the novel's official release date. Also, Audiobook an Audiobook version will be available sometime near the end of January. I'm currently collaborating with a black owned Media producer, VisionPoint Media Group, to produce the Audiobook. Thanks and God Bless. B1.

    Look forward to your support!

@josiah starr how do you think we would handle those that are not 100 percent on code? How far will we go in making sure that everyone is on board with the mission at hand?

In the Novel, Foundational Black Americans that are not on code and prefer to live among the Dominant Society are called "Zebras". Zebras are held in contempt by "Foundationals" and vice versa. After the initial Reparations agreement, there was a severe break.

In reality, this will have to happen. A horsemen cannot ride two horses at the same time. There must be a separate at some point. This is a logical principle and a biblical principle.
Be sure to Pre-Order my novel and explore the Oakland Reparation Colony with Agent Nuria Sellers.

    Red Velvet,

My love and appreciation for Black Women that are on code, impacted my decision to make the main character a Black Woman....along with writing an interesting novel. As for Feminism or Women bashing......Its a waste of energy. At the end of the day Nuria Sellers is B1, not a Feminist. That's what REALLY matters. Not Feminism. Not LGBTQism. Not Democrat or Republican....Black First.

Also, this novel also has Nuria's troubled marriage as a major plot theme. Alot of young folks are looking for "Dating Advice", which is fine, but we also need to discuss how to make a marriage/relationship work after the fancy and expensive is over. Dating is one thing; lasting marriages is totally another. Thanks and God Bless. Look forward to you buy the novel and hearing your feedback. B1.

@josiah starr do you see this being a series or a one and done? Is Nuria going to be another Aachim?
    Harbinger,

For right now, I'm thinking one and done, but if the response to this novel is vast I'll bring it back. That's why I kinda ended the novel the way I did.....just leaving the door open for more drama in the Oakland Reparations Colony.

Achim Jeffers, on the other hand, is coming back....very soon. I've already outlined the next novel and will start typing away sometime next month. Stay tuned....

@josiah starr How long did it take you to write this novel?
    Kanu,

From concept to final edits on the manuscript, about five months. Near the end, I had to deal with two hurricanes here in New Orleans and other delays in my personal life. Without the delays, three months would be a fair guess. In the publishing world, this novel is a bit longer than what other authors are pumping out nowadays. The novel is 120K words, which is considerably short then my last novel which was 80K. What we are seeing on the market now are much shorter novels, typically 60-80K words in all genres. Even "shorts" 10-20K word novels are beginning to flood online retailers, especially in the downloadable realm. I wanted to deliver a page turning "old-fashioned" novel to consumers. A novel that delivers value and doesn't leave the reader feeling cheated. I don't want to throw an eye-catching book cover on a lackluster product just some quick downloads. I want a customer to come back to Spirit Of 1811 Publishing for more thought-provoking material, that's entertaining and worth their investment of both time and money.

That was a little bit more than what you asked, but your insightful question segue wayed nicely into that breakdown because writing a novel is extremely difficult. Time is a luxury and time is expensive. Writing a book is painfully hard work. Writing a GOOD novel is extremely painful hard and frustrating.....Lots of long nights. Lots of empty bottle's of wine and whiskey. Lots of walks around the block in the middle of the night to jump start your creativity.....and of course....lots of Chopped and Screwed Music.

Thanks for the question. God Bless and B1.

The first year will be something else! After that I would hope that most will get serious.
I believe the ranks of the serious will be bigger than folks might assume. Yes, there will be the shameless amongst us, but some folks we assume wouldn't do right.....would do right. Regardless, let the weak fail so the bright among us can shine.

Thank you for the thorough answer brother, interesting point about shorter novels being written. Last year youtube released their "shorts" feature to compete with tiktok. Do you think the newer generations are being programmed to have an even lower attention span than we already have?

Yes, they are. We are already seeing it with short songs and music video. Yet, these same young folks will binge watch TV series on Netflix & Amazon. If you have the right product, you can capture the minds and imaginations of these younger folks. They really appreciate quality and original content. You have too many spin offs and remakes in Media.

@josiah starr how is the audiobook being recorded? Is it going to be one of those monotone joints or is the narrator going to be expressive?
    Boss Hogg,

No monotone voices, computer readback or inexperienced narrators here. Spirit of 1811 Publishing screens, auditions and selects highly skilled Voice Actors to narrate our audiobooks. Our Narrators are members of the screen actor's guild, thus they very skilled and not cheap. For this latest novel, we had to be mindful to find the right talent who could convey the depth of our main character, Nuria Seller. I believe we have done so and I look forward to delivering a pulse raising audiobook by the 22nd of January. Audiobooks are about to become the new wave. If you are into audiobooks, be sure to purchase the audiobook version of my last novel "War Of The Heart: An Achim Jeffers Novel".

A segment of us will piss off our reparations in under 5 years

A segment of us will money manage and maintain a decent living til death

A segment of us invest and flip tf of our money, creating more millionaires
Right and that's a good thing. Our cream will rise to the top, unlike what we see today. The cream will be responsible for setting the value system within our community. B1.

I believe Reparation must also include land allotments. Sort of like the land that has been designated for Native Americans and their casinos.

In my Novel, I explore the concept of FBA Colonies that happen to be located outside of major American cities. These colonies operate independently and are self-governed, for the most part. One problem that I identified with this concept is the vast likelihood of White Extremist terror attacks. It is my belief that if we are to have our own designated land, we will have to develop institutions totally focus on protection of that land. The main character in my novel is a Force Protection Agent named Nuria Sellers. In the book we will have received our Reparations, but securing the gains afterwards will undoubtedly become the next overwhelming challenge for FBA's.

If we are to receive land with cash payments in a reparations package, what cities, states or areas should we focus our colonies in? Should all the Reparations Colonies be in land locked areas or should we demand areas with ocean access and other transportation infrastructure?

Im kind of weird. So, Ill need to know everything about my people since day one on this planet. I would like to know the plan and the organiztion responsible for having to repair this situation. Their desecendants shouldnt be allowed to hold any public office anymore on the grounds of generational conspiracy. Thats why I said that "money" it will help out some. My definition kind of includes a change in global power.

    Thank you.

    • What does a post-reparations America look like to you?

Yes the majority of us would give it right back to white people and others, but we just need to make sure that we don't.
    • Where would we live?

I'm thinking we would invest in towns and communities all over the US to build black areas.
    • Who would be our enemies?

Most people, unfortunately, a lot of them would be black.
    • What should be our priorities?

Our priority should be keeping our dollars in our community for as long as possible and building strong families.
    • How should we ensure that everyone remains on code?

People who are on code will speak and behave like they are on code. There does need to be a list of commands for the people who need a bit more help understanding things. If you don't remain on code you will socially then financially suffer from it and be left to white supremacist society.

    Blackness is Coming,

I really like your answers. I love reading B1 folk's thoughts on Reparations. That one of the main reasons I wrote my novel....to spur these types of discussions. This issue is too important. We at the grassroots must have this discussion and not allow it to be dictated to us by the White Media and it's black flunkies.

I totally agree with alienating blacks who chose to be off-code. They are a serious threat and must be addressed. In the Novel, off-code Foundational Blacks who have decided to live among the Dominant Society are called "Zebras". In the book, loyal Foundationals have distanced themselves from "Zebras" in a deliberate fashion. There is literally no association.

Thanks for you comment. Thanks and God Bless.

Thank you! A lot of people have trouble understanding what I mean by cutting loose the blacks that are off-code. It is a must. I tell people to look at it like this.

In every zombie movie, we understand that when the zombie bites a person, they too become a zombie. It makes no difference if the victim is a good person or not. It does not matter if they were accidentally bitten, and it doesn't matter if they were tainted by zombies because they lived in a bad neighborhood due to Reagan pushing crack to their parents. If you are off-code, that's the only thing that matters. It's a hard truth, but it's a truth that everyone needs to come to terms with.

I am on my way to purchase your work right now! Can't wait to read and discuss it here.

Is this truly how Black Barbers behave or is this just Anti-Black LGBTQ propaganda? We have to stand up to LGBTQ bullying and lies. This is another reason I wrote my novel.

    #nothingwillcomebetweenus

Anti-Black Male propaganda. The producer’s excuse was trash too.

Yeah, someone's "lived experience" should not be used to negatively stereotype an entire institution. The producer and her ilk seem to want to have it both ways.

On one hand, they tell black men to "get your booty to the polls" and they go to black barber shops to get political support......then they slander black barber shops as hyper-sexualized sin dens. They are consistently talking down at straight Black men.....except when it's time to get votes.....then.....all black barber shops become important pillars of the black community.
