That and they have no real ties to the people or the locals. If they need to go hard after someone, they have no sympathy or remorse. They train modern soldiers this way. My brother's friend who was able to drop out of the military due to spine issues, he said they straight up tell people they need to be willing to turn on their own families if given the command.
