Know anyone who married to stay in the US?

I know a lot of people out there do this type of thing. Someone from another country moves here for love and they end up becoming US citizens when they get married. There's probably a lot more to it than that, but I feel like I know a few people in my family along with friends who have met men and women from overseas.

Do you know anyone who married someone so they could stay in the US? If I was dating a woman who lived overseas originally and we fell in love, I would consider marrying her. But it would have to be a while before marriage comes up. And I would never do like what they do in those 90 day fiance shows. Those people are crazy for believing those people love them. I feel like most of them just use them. There's a ton of commentary clips on that show, I'd recommend them for some good laughs.

But yeah, would you marry someone to keep them in the US? Even if there was no love involved?

I actually know a lot of people who have lol I know of one that was specifically so she could get her green card. She was a young, blonde Russian lady and she married an older black guy. Not only was she able to stay but her teenage daughter did too. I think they "stayed together" for a few years but have moved on now. I would never marry someone just so they could stay in the country though.

Wow, that's so weird. And of course they don't end up staying together. Most of the men and women that come to the US for this, end up leaving the person they marry soon after it seems. And same, no chance I'd ever marry someone so they could stay. Now if we were dating for years, that'd be a different situation, but if it's the first time meeting and the two of you decide on getting married then, yeah that's crazy.

Russian women look hard. I hope the cash was good😆

Oh damn, that is honestly how I see most Russians lol. Imagine if that's what you get from the Russian mail order brides and grooms. youngbruhdisgusted

When I was younger and forced to go to church, the lady who did Sunday school married an african guy(I think he was from Nigeria specifically but I don't recall, it was almost 30yrs ago) so he could stay here. After they got married, we never saw him again.
Did he end up skippin town or something? That's seems to happen to most people who have a green card wedding. I imagine there are some legit relationships, but the majority are probably just people trying to get to the states on someone else's dime.

From what I know, she became pregnant not long after the marriage, but then she lost the baby. While she was pregnant we saw a little more of him but not much. After awhile, we never saw him. Always assumed they got divorced and noone ever really talked about it so it was always shrouded in mystery.

That’s one of those topics that everyone thinks about but no one has the guts to ask.

“Yo Maddie Jean, why did Okembe just disappear overnight?”
