Does anyone watch this show on TLC called “My 600 pound life”? I’ve been watching it for years, and it seems to have become worse over time. I see people featured on the show who have the nastiest homes. I was just watching the beginning of an episode from season 10. The woman’s bedroom is gross. I’ve seen worse, but this made my stomach turn. I could not live in a dirty home. These people need to be made to clean up before filming. Not only are the homes of these participants sloppy, but so is their diet. Nothing but fast food, processed foods from the markets, no vegetables nor fruit (even though they’re not supposed to eat fruit), soda, desserts, junk food, candy, etc. Food addiction is a very serious problem. I couldn’t imagine being in that situation. The great thing is anyone who has this issue can reverse it. It takes discipline to change your eating habits. Most if not all the people on the show don’t seem to get that they are close to death. The patterns I’ve noticed since watching is that the people have things in common. Traumatic life situations like rape, molestation, family loss, etc. When people have bad things occur in the lives, it leads them to take comfort in eating food. That’s the only way they know how to cope. Then another similar element is people on the show are on several medications. I’ve seen a patient from seasons ago abuse his body with pain killers and eventually die. This is no joke. Imagine having two addictions at once. I don’t think a lot of the people realize how much damage they have inflicted on their bodies Besides the bad in the show, there are some funny parts to it. Sometimes I want to reach through the tv screen and smack em.

I watched some of these through reaction videos on YouTube. Where other people watch the clips and react to them. The one with the two sisters, Tammy and the other one... That was just bad. I think Tammy was the one that refused to change at all and just stayed ignorant in her ways until she nearly died.

I watch it all the time and it is absolutely ridiculous how huge these people are. What you always see on the show is an enabler. There is always some sad sack of crap with mental issues feeding the fat person into the grave.

I saw this one the other day where this guy was like 880lbs and he was a straight up jerk to his women. She has made them dinner it was a huge skillet of ground beef and he had a huuuuge plate and looked like he was in heaven.

I remember watching an episode and a guy was the enabler and when his girl started losing weight he stopped being attracted to her. He needs therapy…

I don't watch it often. But when I have some time to kill, i watch it for both motivation and morbidity. 1. I need to see white people who are a hot fucking mess to remind me that when I feel like my life is a wreck it really isn't in the grand scheme of things and 2. To make me get off my ass when I DON'T want to work out, but I really should.

I don't watch much TV, but my mom does. She also watches that show where they are always popping people's nasty pimples. I forget the name of it.

Yep. These folks didn't become extra obese overnight. They became fat, then obese, then more obese, then most obese.

These folks eat food for comfort, but it has only led them to feeling even more uncomfortable with all those extra pounds on.
Consumption-based addictions are scariest to me. When you train your brain that comfort is in a food or a drink it is will take over you. Especially alcohol...after a hard day or a good day or a mediocre day your brain thinks....hey it's a great time to have a drink!

Obesity is a scary thing. It runs in my family and I've witnessed family die because of it. When it comes to these TV shows, I don't think they have any intention of truly helping them. TLC in general has always been that network that likes to use people like this, in an attempt to create content. They may try to help them by hiring real nutritionists and therapists, but in the end, they are probably looking to keep this train running as long as they can. As well, it makes me wonder how much of the "Drama" these shows have is staged or put on my the producers. All I see TLC doing is using people with problems.

Mad scary. Health is wealth, for real. This is not to say that being uber thin (my situation) is the pinnacle either, but strive for a healthy medium. Like, "We" need you healthy ... we all gotta get up the mountain, that's the mentality we need, imo

That show is constantly getting sued by the former guest on tht show. It’s pretty bad too how they do them after the film stops rolling.

The reaction videos are funny. The sisters have their own show on TLC. I watched some of the clips from that show 1000 lb sisters. I think that’s what it is called.

The enablers make it worse. I remember James King who died in 2020. When he was on the show, his girlfriend/wife and the daughter enabled him especially his lady. I remember him laying in the bed and they cooked him a huge breakfast. He was telling them what he wanted and gave instructions. These people are sick in the head. He never followed the diet the doctor gave him. He had the poorest hygiene too, which enough of these people on the show seem to have. The lady I’m watching now hasn’t been out the bed in three/four years. It’s so gross. She’s not even following the diet Dr. Now gave her. Her boyfriend picking out all this junk food and sugary cereal.

The show is definitely motivating. I feel grateful I’m not overweight and I don’t overeat. I feel for those struggling with their health and eating habits, but a lot of these people don’t serve support nor compassion.

I kind of understand. I had a grandfather who died due to obesity when I was a child. I read some about the crap TLC does. One of the women I think who sued died months ago. Now what parts of the show do you think are staged? I think I read that they make the participants make it look like they’re not following the diet or something like that. I have to look it up.

I’m watching S10 E14 Lisa’s story. Three months in she still hasn’t had sheets put on her bed. That mattress looks disgusting anyway.
Sheets would be a problem. Just imagine having the fitted sheet coming off the edge of the bed and having to try to fix it. It would be impossible. She has the right idea.

Look at where she lives though good gracious. Pink brick and a piece of plyboard. These people on this show be living in straight up squalor.

😂🤣🤣😂 True, her caretakers wouldn't wash them anyways. It's just gross seeing that bare mattress. I remember seeing another white lady on the show and her home was worse plus she had dogs. I'm not going to give too many details, but a person died in that shit hole. 😩

I love Dr. Now he does not play their game at all. He takes no excuses and will call their lazy asses out. I heard they don’t pay for the skin surgery so if you lose weight you will have to cut the flab on your own.

Obesity gets in the way as well. There is a famous saying that says the bigger you are, the harder you fall. So true.

I love him too. He seems like a great doctor. It’s too bad a lot of his patients don’t follow his program well. Do you remember patients like James King, Steven Asanti, Lisa Fleming?

I feel bad for those on the show, something leads them down that path to become a food addict and then TLC likes to exploit these people. It’s no wonder that some people fail to meet Dr. Now’s requirements for weight loss surgery… most people this big have mental issues and may have physical ones that do make it difficult to lose weight. I think it’s bs to call most of these people lazy. (The ones who don’t try are a different story though… IMO they are lazy.)
