If I may interject, China is on their way to becoming a super power but they are not there yet. China's economy is built on bullying their neighbors, manufacturing and trading in securities. They want to "turn the corner" to being a full fledged powerhouse in global affairs to be considered equal to the US but they don't have the infrastructure to do it right now.
The media, that they likely own, is spreading lies about China's come up. They are investing heavily in Africa to build the needed manufacturing base to prop up their economy so they can afford R&D for defense and influence. That takes time. They are coming along. They are literally choked by the lack of hard commodities for fueling them into super power status. Paper tiger.
Last but not least, China's military is a bunch of farmers with slingshots and horse drawn wagons. I exaggerated a bit but they cannot compete with the US, militarily, although they make a brave face.
