Twitch is in some hot water after a streamer literally broke her back in two places during twitchcon. She was in a foam pit, like American Gladiator pit, where you challenge others. She won and decided to jump down but first. In turn, she broke her back in two places and will now need a rod put into her back. According to the article below, the foam pit was about a foot deep, and the bottom being concrete. Everyone who jumped into the foam pit, had to sign a waiver in order to do it. So she probably doesn't have any recourse for her broken back.​

Why would she jump off like that? Most pits be them foam or ball pits are only like a foot deep and they are meant to protect you from falls on the surface, not plunged ass first! Maybe they should have accounted for the weight of these ADULTS. Most of these things are set up for children.

It was just solid, concrete ground with some foam blocks on it. Would've been much worse if kids ended up joining. Then again in terms of character traits, there isn't much separation from the average twitch streamer and a regular child.

I heard somewhere else that everyone who did this pit battle thing, had to sign a waiver in order to do it. So Twitch might get away scott free from all of this. On top of that, I heard another person broke an ankle and there was other reported injuries. Not sure if it's with the foam pit.

Not sure why they didn't put some mats under the foam balls, because that would have solved so much here.

I smell a lawsuit coming... I wouldn't have jumped myself, but she was there to have fun and meet up with other twitch streamers. It's stupid that they didn't have any type of padding underneath the foam pit. I doubt they'll bring the foam pit back in future events now...

Someone dropped the ball big time on this. There should have been a no jumping sign or something. They were doing jousting on the podiums so they should have expected someone to fall.

I have been in a few and they were never more than 2 feet deep. Maybe cause the pits you been in are hogging all the damn foam! lol

These idiots had the “talent” jousting over a shallow foam pit, the insurer is going to be so pissed at the payout. The situation was negligence on twitch’s part and they are going to pay.
