I suggest people start using a VPN now that FBA will be considered a hate group.
What benefits do you believe a VPN would provide? In addition, do you believe that your ISP will be unable to see your traffic while using a VPN? Think about it from a Physical Layer...your traffic may be going through some remote server but it goes through a modem/router, to some type of Outside Plant, to a consolidation point in the neighborhood, to the central office/hub, to the distribution network, to the core network where it will probably be passed off to some peer network that gets it to the destination where the VPN Server resides. In all of this, how do you stop the traffic from being intercepted by the government? In addition, if it's encrypted how can you be sure that the VPN provider is not providing a backdoor to the federal government?

There's always a risk of information leak with the use of VPN. You don't know who the company is selling your data to and that's something you should gamble with. If you then happen to use the free VPN's, that's even a lot worst because you would have yourself comprised.

Express has worked fine for me in most cases. I tried Nord a while back had some success. I am overseas so need a VPN to watch some things that can only be viewed in America (Amazon prime for example, Sling TV, etc.)
Nord is drilled into my brain because they advertise on so many podcasts. I may try them out to get access to some software I cannot get in the states.

There are so many servers that are able to crack a VPN and your IP is no longer hidden, so In some cases VPN's are of no use.

I would recommend Nord VPN though as it works really fine for streaming shows or movies that are not originally available in your country.

Using a VPN won't do anything. You need to have the server be hosted in a safe zone so it can't be taken down by the US government. If you are looking to use a VPN for personal use, Windscribe is a good one. I been using it for a few years now.

This is information I wanted to be propagated because we don’t want people to believe that just getting a VPN is going to make you safe.

There are sites that can easily detect them so while they do offer some level of privacy, if the website you are visiting has invested in the software to scan for them and crack them, they aren't of much use. Most sites don't bother unless they plan on using that data or tracking that data. Plus, a VPN doesn't protect you from being data swiped by your internet provider. You want to change your DNS to .1.1.1.1 to block this.

I have to admit that I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to VPNs. I am required to use it for my job since we have been WFH due to the pandemic. I am definitely taking note of some of your recommendations mentioned on this thread.
The first question to ask would be why you even need one.

I use Aura. $16 a month covers all my devices, and they are U.S. based, so when you have to contact customer service, you don’t need a translator. aura.com

I don't currently use a VPN, but everyone keeps telling me I really should start using one. I don't feel like paying another fee on top of my internet bill. Does it even help in protecting you from hackers?

Yeah that's what I feel VPNs are best for, to be able to watch content in other countries. I've heard of Nord VPN, I've seen ads for it all over the place.

Idk, maybe I'll look into getting a VPN.

I don’t use one currently. I don’t want to use NordVPN since I’ve heard it’s been hacked a few times. I’ve been thinking about checking out either Surfshark or AtlasVPN. The creators of Protonmail made their own free vpn, but I wouldn’t trust a free one… They do offer paid VPN bundles though too.

I meant in your personal life. Your job requires you to use a VPN to connect to the corporate network. People on here are talking about using VPNs for privacy reasons.
I do not use one for my personal use mainly because my personal computer is broken. I see so many VPN services being offered, I would like to know if it is worth the money. If it is, I wanted to know which one is the best for me to use once I replace my computer.

I don’t think so unless you’re looking to get access to let’s say Netflix in Japan or something.
