Probably because it happened so frequently he just rolled with it. If your name is easy to mispronounce you can either try to correct the whole world which is never ending or let the world correct you. It's like Auxiliary in the USA we don't pronounce this correctly. We can either try to correct someone every time they say it incorrectly or we can just go along with ti being AUX-ZIL-LER-REE.
