Since I got cats, and I do love them... I have had to change things up. The litter box smells can linger and carry through my place so I started making use of room sprays. I found one I love by Glade. It smells like berry bubble gum. Unfortunately, both cats started coughing so I had to stop using it. I switched to candles which was great for a whole but again, they started coughing. I found out both have allergies and I can't use much of anything in terms of scented items so I invested in a small air purifier and it works great for the smells.

I still use candles and sprays but keep it contained to the bathroom or when I am having people come over. I don't want my cats to suffer just cause I want my house to smell like fresh baked cookies lol My dad actually told me if I want to have a house smelling good, I need to spend more time in the kitchen. It pissed me off at first but he is right. Back in the day, that is what scented a home and made it smell good. Baking and cooking!

What is your preference to keeping your home smelling fresh?

Incense, candles, solid air fresheners for bathrooms and sometimes plug-ins for the guest bedroom.

Seven years in our new home so far and it still smells brand new. We dust things off all the time and whenever we notice light dust on anything. Wife vacuums downstairs and I vacuum upstairs once a week; twice if need be. Use a microfiber cloth when dusting and make sure to hit those corners & bottom edges against the walls.
I change all the air filters every 3rd month like clockwork. (I use the calendar on my cell to notify me when its time.)

If we fry any food, it's done outside. (I wouldn't recommend the garage because the sent attracts pest.) Cooking oils for fish, steaks and chicken will leave the smell of it everywhere and on everything. {it takes 30 minutes or more for oil particles to settle.} If you have carpet and frying food a lot, only steam cleaning will help.

My mom would buy Potpourri . It would have different colors and smells and she would pour out some it in a small pot with water inside. Then bring it to a boil, turn it down to a very light simmer. That would have the whole house smelling like lavender or cinnamon & spice. When the water got too low you smell the difference, and we would just add more water. Might help to keep your pets from coughing.

I am trying to find something that is natural. I love a particular Black woman's room sprays, but she shifted her business, and I cannot get them anymore.

I have been trying to find something that will work well. I did not like potpourri although my family members did.

Marijuana incense, Marijuana candles and fresh Marijuana

I have never even seen marijuana incense or marijuana candles. I should not be surprised that these are out, and I'm sure they have been out for many years. Most of the folks I personally know who do use marijuana don't even use it as incense or as candles. I think it is because I live in a small town.

Marijuana is a hard smell to cover up. My friend's boyfriend smokes and their apartment always smelled of the stuff and it don't smell nice. The only thing that seemed to help was him smoking it outside or using a toilet paper roll with a dryer sheet shoved it in it. He blows the smoke into it.
