What's the Best Vacation You've Ever Been On?

If you've never been on vacation, tell us about your ideal locale.

The summer is on the horizon which is the perfect to enjoy some fun in the sun.

So I'm asking all my Sixers, what's the best #vacation you've ever been on? I'll start.

    ----

My best vacation so far has to be a cruise to Mexico.
What I liked the most about it was the convenience of it all. I didn't have to worry about any of the logistics. Shows, food, drinks, transportation, activities were all take care of. The Cost to Value ratio was out of this world. My lodging alone on my next vacation to Hawaii costs more than the whole cruise for two.

My wife has been itching to take a cruise, I am hesitant because I'm low-key scared of being in an ocean on a boat...
    looks fun as hell though.

The last vacation I went on was in Hawaii on Maui, stayed for a few weeks. It was pretty cool but I'm telling you now it's expensive as hell! There are tons of things to do but I think I spent about 80% of my time on the beach. I wasn't feeling the culture though, overall it was a good time and a great place to vacation.

I’m going to Honolulu for the first time and I’m excited. Would you say it’s on the level of a LA or New York in regards to the cost?

One of my favorites was a trip to Tuscany when I was stationed in Germany. This was a mind blowing trip because I just finished reading Malcolm X and listing the books he read while he was in prison. I was beginning to read Dante's Inferno for personal reasons and long after I played the video game. The Trip allowed us to see Vatican City, Florence, Bologna, Venice (Smells like piss) and Rome. Florence was my favorite because it encompassed all the old relics and new technologies (Retrofuturism), similar to the neighboring cities, I also had a clay portrait done by a veteran of the Italian Army. FYI, Italy is home to some of the worse Railway infrastructure I've ever witnessed.

If you're into outdoors and beautiful views.... Alaska during the summer is unrivaled. Anywhere near Prince William Sound.

Victoria, Canada is also nice. Cruises up and down the inside passage during the summer are beautiful and worth the money for the experience.

never been to the east coast but to give you an idea (about 6 years ago) a loaf of bread was close to10 bucks and milk for half-gallon was about 7. It was almost cheaper to eat out. Not sure how much has changed, and it could also vary depending on the island too.

The vibe there is very easygoing, I didn't feel out of place at all. Very nice people.

I heard about those Alaska cruises some of those views are impressive. I always tell myself that if I’m on the west coast I’m going to take one of those cruises out of Cali with a balcony suite.

Yes sir. It is definitely pristine country up there, but it can get pricy because a lot of the places are remote and its all seasonal. The glaciers, mountains, and wildlife can be refreshing and thought provoking. Summertime in Alaska is relatively nice. Cruises up and down the Inside Passage are almost always calm and offer great opportunities for memorable photos. My job has me sailing that part of the world pretty regularly, so I get immune to it at times, but on the right days, I'm thankful for the chance to see it all.
