Which is best for music? Vinyl, CD, Cassette, Digital or other?

I've been starting to build a vinyl collection of music instead of buying CDs or even digital these days. I think record players put out the best overall sound, it catches everything and really sounds better imo. CDs are fine, but they degrade faster because of disc rot, which is one thing to consider. Digital music is fine, but I think the sound of a record far exceeds what most other options out there.

I think cassettes sound decent as well. And they're easier to store and collect than vinyl, but vinyl still wins out for me. What about you? What do you prefer?

I prefer digital myself. Cassettes over time eventually wear out and it affects the quality of the music IMO, lots of my father’s cassette tapes would often sound terrible because they were worn down from play and age. I’m not fond of the crackling that vinyls produced during playback, and you need to store them in cooler areas otherwise they can get warped. CDs have higher quality sound than cassette tapes and vinyls but they’re prone to scratches and even cd rot. As long as you download your songs you don’t have to worry about streaming platforms removing your favorites, that’s why I prefer digital.

I used to think digital and I still somewhat do but the older I get, I am seeing value in having physical copies of things. Especially when it comes to CDs and video games. Like if everything is digital, you can lose it all and not get it back - especially if we head down the road of charging people extra for everything. Just look at what car companies are doing now, planning on charging people for basic features in a car. Imagine if they start saying "you have to pay a monthly sub to access your music files".

I'm a classic when it comes to how I love my music. Yes, I'm not going to deny rushing on digital when it started trending but with time, the thrill depreciated. I'm collecting on Vinyl as well but it's difficult to get a hold of them now. CDs are good but they damage too quickly.
