Netflix CEO told staff that he’s backing Dave

I got this from the shade room so take it with a grain of salt.

“I wanted to follow up on ‘The Closer’ – Dave Chappelle’s latest special – as several of you have reached out following QBR asking what to say to your teams. It never feels good when people are hurting, especially our colleagues, so I wanted to give you some additional context. You should also be aware that some talent may join third parties in asking us to remove the show in the coming days, which we are not going to do.

Chappelle is one of the most popular stand-up comedians today, and we have a long standing deal with him. His last special, ‘Sticks & Stones,’ also controversial, is our most watched, stickiest, and most award winning stand-up special to date. As with our other talent, we work hard to support their creative freedom – even though this means there will always be content on Netflix some people believe is harmful, like ‘Cuties,’ ‘365 Days,’ ‘13 Reasons Why,’ or ‘My Unorthodox Life.’

Several of you have also asked where we draw the line on hate. We don’t allow titles on Netflix that are designed to incite hate or violence, and we don’t believe ‘The Closer’ crosses that line. I recognize, however, that distinguishing between commentary and harm is hard, especially with stand-up comedy which exists to push boundaries. Some people find the art of stand-up to be mean-spirited but our members enjoy it, and it’s an important part of our content offering.

In terms of our commitment to inclusion, we’re working hard to ensure more people see their lives reflected on screen and that under-represented communities are not defined by the single story. So we’re proud of titles like ‘Sex Education,’ ‘Young Royals,’ ‘Control Z’ and ‘Disclosure.’ Externally, particularly in stand-up comedy, artistic freedom is obviously a very different standard of speech than we allow internally as the goals are different: entertaining people versus maintaining a respectful, productive workplace.

Today’s conversation on Entertain the World was timely. These are hard and uncomfortable issues. We all bring different values and perspectives so thank you for being part of the conversation as it’s important we’re clear about our operating principles.”

My city....

Back in the day it was called "little beruit", when gang culture reached us in 79 - 80, it was our neighbors from Cali who introduced us to it, they moved here to basically make money off dope, we didn't have dope houses or "spots" until they came. My fathers side of my family are all LA born, so growing up I knew what the deal was, but portland (my city) had no clue what was about to hit.
I witnessed what was going on in 87, I was part of it and to see homicides in 2021 over taking the death toll of 87... Says a lot, especially when we don't have gang's around like we used to. honestly, when they gentrified my area, crime got worse, and it's not slowing down... I miss my city. #PDX

Do you like to pre-order your games? Or buy them day one?

Last game I pre-ordered was actually the Alan Wake Remastered that just came out. But before that, the last game I actually pre-ordered from a store was GTA V for the Xbox 360. Yes, all the way back then. I was not really into pre-ordering. It kinda feels pointless, when they clearly make enough games on release. I could go to Gamestop on the day of release and still get it.

Do you pre-order? Or do you only pre-order certain games to get special editions or special gifts?

Album of the week: Don Tolliver Life of a Don

The best album, in my opinion, that was relreleased this past Friday is Don Tollivers Life of a Don. Don hails from Houston Texas and is similar to Travis Scott, but has a more rigid sounding style. This album went way beyond my expectations. Favorite songs are Swanging on Westheimer, Bogus, and Way Bigger.

WorldStarHipHop?

Is this the most stupidest and crazy site ever created ? All the videos they post are trash and the music they post is the most toxic and mind numbing garbage on the planet . Its clear they have an agenda. I am so sick of worldstarhiphop its only objective is to make black people look bad . If it's related to anything positive for black people worldstarhiphop will post a negative video of black people doing the opposite . How can a site like this claim to be hip hop when they never post anything positive for black people . It doesnt make any sense.

26-year-old police officer was shot and k*lled early Saturday morning while working his first shift for the Alamo Police Department in Wheeler County, Georgia, authorities said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is searching for a suspect, said spokesperson Natalie Ammons at a Saturday news conference.
Officer Dylan Harrison, who was also a full-time Oconee Drug Task Force agent in Eastman, Georgia, leaves behind a wife and a 6-month-old child.
The GBI identified the suspect as 43-year-old Luke Ferguson of Alamo. A reward of $17,500 has been offered for information leading to his arrest.
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp offered his condolences to Harrison's family, writing on Twitter, "Early this morning, one of our law enforcement officials in Middle Georgia was k*lled in the line of duty. Our thoughts and prayers are with this officer's family, friends, and colleagues at the Alamo Police Department."

They got him out the paint real quick.

You ever hear of this?

I had a video playing the other day. Wasn't paying much attention to it but I heard what this guy saying about "significant other".

He explained the role of that phrase in a relationship is "sign-if-i-can't" and it deals with credit. I never noticed it before this and it makes sense. Like when you are in a relationship, your significant other is meant to balance you out emotionally, mentally, and financially. This is assuming you are in a healthy relationship. When it comes to marriage it is ideal that both people have good credit but so long as one does, the whole "sign-if-i-can't" factors in.

Just an interesting thing I never knew about or noticed before.
