Maaan I started to do this a lot when the XBOX dropped because it made it so easy to do. No way I was going to be lugging around the big nerd towers we had as kids:
View attachment 214 But yeah going over the homies house with 4 XBOX, TV's and Halo was so dope. You could play multiplayer without having to split the screen.
That was such a dope era.
Haha, that's what the LAN parties I went to was like. Just towers on small desks. On top of that, the room we had the LAN party in, was so damn crowded. It was like 6 guys in a room that was really small.
That's all I did during my first semester of college...my roommates were super nerds but we did that all the time
Ha nice! Do you miss it at all? I had a lot of fun at LAN parties. Mainly at the time because I never had a decent PC growing up, so the LAN parties were also an excuse for me to play some PC games. I remember this one dude was playing Half-Life 2. I had heard of the game, but I was mesmerized by how cool the game looked back then.
This might be a bit embarrassing but I hung out with some nerds in my late teens. We'd have WoW sessions. LOL I saved up for my first computer and got it when I was 18 and started playing it. I thought it was stupid but then I really got into it. I stopped playing a few years after I started. It was too time-consuming. The LAN parties were fun though. We'd get pizza and just hang out for hours playing. We also did CoD parties with a few Xbox 360s and a few TVs. Was a simpler time. Thinking back now, I guess I was a nerd myself. Probably still am. lol
I wouldn't say it's embarrassing. If you're having fun, who cares. I never played WoW, but I know it's very popular. I just never got into the RPG genre because I don't have the patience for them anymore. idk why. Maybe it's like you said, it was too time-consuming.
Hell yeah. I think it's kinda just an excuse to hang with friends. There would be times where we'd just drink, eat food, and just talk about life.
Nerd used to be a phrase that people hated, but now they've adopted it as a good thing about one's character. Like I'll admit, I'm a nerd. I get into tech, gaming, comic books, superhero movies, star wars, all that stuff people would consider nerdy. Same with geek, I think people are accepting of that word more now because it is kinda a characteristic of people now.
ever played any of the Quake games? very fast paced! but fun. Quake Champions is the latest. (FPS)
I played Quake once or twice myself. But I remember it being so much fun.
Has anyone here thought of ever hosting their own LAN parties recently or in the future? I had considered starting one with a group of friends, but with covid I kinda put the idea on hold. But, I think I might revive that idea soon.
