Can one of you give a scientific reason why it's dark outside before 5:00 pm EST? If it's still sunny on the west coast; and Earth doesn't rotate around the sun, then shouldn't it still be sunny on the east coast?
Everybody seems to have a different answer whenever I ask that question.

Why do you think it should still be sunny on the east coast?

The question is, does it gets dark everyday at 5p.m. or is it some unnatural phenomenon...

In that animation, the sun is lighting the entire U.S., which is why I asked my question. According to that, sunrise & sunset should be at approximately the same time on both coasts.
It only gets dark early in late autumn & winter.

I'm asking for real, cause this ish don't make any sense!
    It’s flat
Genesis 1:6 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters.
Genesis 1:7 And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so.

I know the Bible verses, but that's not what I asked. Read my question in the first post, and answer that.

Look at this picture of the sun's orbit of the flattened Earth:
    270px-SunAnimation.gif
The sun's light covers the entire U.S. equally. Whether the day's are longer or shorter due to the sun's elevation, the amount of daylight that all three of the U.S.'s coasts receive each day would be roughly the same. None of those pics explain why the sun sets first on the east coast.
Also, since the sun covers the entire U.S. equally, then why do we need time zones?

    What 🤨?

Are you looking at your pictures
I looked at all of the pictures that you posted. They addressed the height and path of the sun's orbit, and length of day; but none of them answered the question that I asked. In all of the pictures you posted, NY and Oregon would still experience sunrise and sunset at the same time.
Look at the pictures that Kanu & I posted, and see if you can answer my question.

I just freeze frame your picture that you put up of the sun in the moon, spinning hypothetically saying, let’s just say it’s 5 o’clock and the sun is about to sit tell me if you do or do not see any daylight on the west coast and you do not see darkness about to take over on the East Coast

When the bible mentions firmament, it is referring the space being separate from air/sky, being separate from land, being separate from water. You are meant to think of it on an individual scale, so where you are standing, what you are able to see, touch, etc. So if you are on dry land, you can't see what is below but you can see what is above. If you are at sea, you can see some of what is below you but there is still land down there. That is how I understand it anyways.

The earth is round. I do think that the earth is the center point of this galaxy though. No scientific reasoning or conclusions. If we only use the bible as reference, we know earth was made first, before the sun or moon.

That makes no sense because "experts" claim space is infinite and always expanding. Why would the firmament expand?? Doesn't the bible says God is sitting on top of it? How do you sit on top of something that's expanding?

Many things in the bible are not meant to be interpreted as plain language. A lot of it is written like poetry.

I always felt the way the universe expands is through people going to heaven. I know it might sound silly but what if when a human leaves his or her body and goes to heaven, that life energy creates a new star? And "being with God" is just being in the outer heavens which is "space".

A friend of mine makes a pretty convincing argument that "hell" is in the bottom of the ocean as well because it is beyond boiling water in the depths. I don't know how to explain that as well as she does though but there are actual worm creatures the bible talks about in reference to hell in the bottom of the ocean.

I never claim to know it all, I don't and none of us can but I think expanding on various ideas allows us to grow and expand as people.

I see a lot of gnostic followers pushing this doctrine. "The bible is meant to be an allegory, etc". Cool, but then who decides what it means?

    Peter 1:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

If i use your logic i could say: Well people are allowed go out there and kill each other because according to my own interpretation murder is not really a sin, the 10 commandments are just an allegory to men's downfall, it's not to be taken literal.

In my opinion you're not entirely wrong about starts being something else than we're told.

    Revelation 12:4
Its tail swept a third of the stars out of the sky and flung them to the earth. The dragon stood in front of the woman who was about to give birth, so that it might devour her child the moment he was born.

If you have physically traveled around the planet (I have) I think you would come to understand more of the "whys".....anyone live in the southern hemisphere where the sky shows a difference in the stars that we normally see? I don't believe the flat earth theory but I'm not here to clown anyone that does. It boils down to context and proof and there have been experiments to debunk the theory just as there have been statements made that make us think indeed but many of those statements can't be proven.....I'll side with the science on

I think this is meant for the person reading it. It is how you are meant to form a relationship with God. I think the close to draw near to him, the more wisdom and understanding you gain.
