We should fight white supremacy on every front. They are going after our history, we fight that. Its not about just trying to get reparations. It's part of the fight not THE only fight.
It didn't start with DeSantis, they've been removing Black studies, since I was a child.Yeah, I think that’s it more than anything. Otherwise, since they come with prejudices against Black Americans, why not make it a point to challenge their beliefs and let them know that they’re not cool and won’t be tolerated? That would be true education and a win for us too.
On the other hand, comsidering the anti-Black bias, I don’t want them teaching our history, especially not to our children.
Again, we need to be getting together and teaching our own history to our children on Saturdays.
During Jim Crow and even afterwards, the Jack and Jill group would meet on the weekends and have a professional Black talk to their children about their profession, etc. to give them a heads up. They taught their kids what they needed to know; and they were and are still the most consistently successful group of Black Americans out here. We need to do the same regarding career training AND our history.
I don't know about California, but out here, they are teaching junior high school health students about various forms of sexuality. Kids would already have an understanding of the subject by the time they took the course that De Santis banned.I agree with him not wanting that intersectional, LGBT agenda in the curriculum. Some of the heat needs to be on DeSantis but also some on the college board who keeps injecting immigration, LGBT, and Intersectionality into every conversation that deals with Black Americans.
I’m not lock step with him at all that’s why I said both need smoke. The intersectionality babble leads to Black and Brown coalitions, feminism, and then leads us right into LGBTQIA+.I don't know about California, but out here, they are teaching junior high school health students about various forms of sexuality. There are 4 units to the program and only a few subjects from the 4th unit covers the topic of Black feminism and Intersectionality and how those subjects cross. It doesn't have anything to do with what DeSantis and his klan are fearmongering about. Here's the proposed curriculum: View attachment 6492 A blip in the tail end of the program isn't enough to warrant canceling the entire course. Besides, although I don't condone the lgbt agenda; the mention of the words "Black", "gay", and "Intersectionality" in the same sentence still aren't enough to make me get in step with an avowed white supremacist.
Even if that's true, and we'll say for the sake of argument that it is, the inclusion of a short discussion on Intersectionality is still not a valid reason to ban the Black studies course. DeSantis is using the lgbt boogie man as a smokescreen to advance his WS agenda. The intersectionality babble leads to Black and Brown coalitions, feminism, and then leads us right into LGBTQIA+.
But I‘m not defending DeSantis. Both sides are wrong in my eyes. DeSantis is wrong for banning African American studies for some very flimsy and other very real reasons. The college board is wrong for shoehorning LGBT and Intersectional babble in curriculum about Black Americans. I see two villains not one.Even if that's true, and we'll say for the sake of argument that it is, the inclusion of a short discussion on Intersectionality is still not a valid reason to ban the Black studies course. None of that is my argument. But I‘m not defending DeSantis. Both sides are wrong in my eyes. DeSantis is wrong for banning African American studies for some very flimsy and other very real reasons. Cool, that’s what you believe. I believe that there are some valid critiques of the curriculum which gives DeSantis the ammo he needs to block it. Some of the curriculum being critiqued has nothing to do with the Black community specifically and are liberal ideologies used to destroy our unity and family structure. Liberals shouldn’t expect people to keep buying their non-stop sex talk. Them trying to piggy back it off our name is ONE of the bullet points in the rejection and to me that’s unfortunate. They should make Queer Studies and put all that talk in that course.None of that is my argument.
My point is whether there are two villains or two hundred, the Black studies course should not have been banned.
So then here's the solution: unban the course, and then remove the undesirable sections through revision. All of the lgbt stuff could be gone by the second year the class is offered. I don't care about the perverted liberals or the closeted conservatives; my only concern is that the Black studies class is offered.Cool, that’s what you believe. College Board to revise AP African American studies class rejected by DeSantis
College Board will release an updated version of its Advanced Placement course in African American studies next week after Gov. Ron DeSantis’s (R-Fla.) administration rejected initial plans fo…thehill.com
The college board is revising the curriculum so hopefully they remove the queer theory portion.
Well like Sovereign posted, it’s being revised. Once they take the liberal sex talk out of it then DeSantis will have a hard time challenging without looking like an outright white supremacist. So then here's the solution: unban the course, and then remove the undesirable sections through revision. I can guarantee you that Ron DeSantis couldn't care less about that. In fact, being an open and unapologetic white supremacist is his brand.Well like Sovereign posted, it’s being revised. He wouldn’t but he would have to own it if he still has an issue after the Queer Theory subject is removed.I can guarantee you that Ron DeSantis couldn't care less about that. In fact, being an open and unapologetic white supremacist is his brand.
Own it? He ran on a white supremacist platform! Like I said, white supremacy is Ron DeSantis's brand; he isn't shy about his stances. He wouldn’t but he would have to own it if he still has an issue after the Queer Theory subject is removed.
You’re arguing just to argue. I mean own it in that right now he is using the LGBT issue as the problem. If they remove it and resubmit it he will either have to accept it or admit that the LGBT issue was not the premier issue and that he simply wants no talk about Black people in the state. Him having to be clear about his stance makes it great to cite down the line in case he pretends to be something other than what he is.Own it? He ran on a white supremacist platform! I'm actually not; but just out of curiosity, when has DeSantis pretended to he anything other than a white supremacist? He has never proclaimed to be anything other than that. You’re arguing just to argue. I mean own it in that right now he is using the LGBT issue as the problem. The only part they mostly teach is slavery. What about before?Desantis is a racist. That's a given. But something that has to be addressed within the Black community is that the Blacks that teach our history wouldn't be approved by TBA, Tariq, Dr. Boyce or whomever we wish.
The fact is the people that teach it are mostly for The Root, Blavity, Lip Stick Alley. They are hardcore democrats who would be against Marcel. Those are the ones generally teaching our history.
White folks are pissed their youngest generation is the most liberal. The youngest whites are growing up with blacks as their icons and heroes (Jay Z, LeBron, Kobe, MJ..all 3 of them. etc) and their low numbers got them triggered badly. So, they are out to make sure the newest white generation has no sympathy for Blacks and no black heroes. So, they grow up now with white men/black women. Black men on the media are soft.
Its up to us individually to fight it but the vast majority of us aren't for whatever reasons.
