I'm glad Jerry Springer and shows like his are dying out

The Jerry Springer show was one of those shows my parents didn't like me watching. When I was a kid, I thought it was some hilarious stuff, but now days I can't watch the show. Looking back, I realize how awful these types of shows were towards black youth. I would also add Maury Povich into the mix here, because he hasn't helped with his constant episodes about paternity tests, or lie detector episodes.

Looking back, it was just shows to make fun of people of color and to toy with people who aren't in a good spot in their life. I think this is a big reason why Jerry Springer was cancelled, and good riddance. We still have Maury, but he's calmed it down a lot. I remember when he would have trans men/women come on the show and he'd ask the audience to guess if they were a man or woman. Probably won't be seeing episodes like that anymore. But he still does the paternity test and lie detector episodes.

These shows are racist imo. They probably asked every guest to act stupid and weird, and then it makes them look stupid in the process.

What did you guys think of these shows? Do you think Maury will ever get cancelled? Knowing him, he will probably die before they ever cancel the show.

It sucks, because it's nothing but stereotypes and misconceptions with these shows. On top of all of that, didn't Jerry Springer and Maury also request their guests to turn their anger/problems up to 11? I remember hearing how sometimes they even asks guests to make shit up in order to make the show more crazy. All of that adds up and it makes us look bad. I don't know how many times they ripped on black people on those shows.

It's going to take a while to change the narrative, because these shows have been around for years making us look bad. And Maury is still around, though relatively tame, he still is problematic in my opinion and doesn't help anything.

The damage from those shows have been done and have evolved to social media trends. Take a look at Black Twitter, The Shaderoom, and all of the ish that goes viral...all of it is problematic and baseless.
I believe it. I try not to bother with black twitter or any of the other things that do more to harm than good. I see the same with stuff like worldstar hiphop.

I'm guilty of watching jerry springer a lot as a kid. They're all dirty. jerry springer, maury povich, ricky lake, jenny jones, etc.

    Exploiting black disfunction.
Yeah they typically take advantage of the Subconscious Coons. At the end of the day all we can do is not watch. I wrote about the type of people that be on Maury here:

Just because the shows are fading doesn't mean the behavior is going anywhere. I see nothing but clowns and trash being promoted on social media when it comes to black people. Like is this the only crap that goes viral for us?

Catfights, hoodrat dances in the streets, family disputes put on public display, dumb trends of theft and ignorance... The list keeps going. Not only is this bs trendy among white folks having a laugh at it but black people promote the same trash and some of them act like they are proud of it. I refuse to partake in it myself. They are just promoting the same stereotypes we have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Trash TV became trash trends on social media.

Social media is a mess. There's tons of sites just like what you mention with Black Twitter. I hope the trend dies out, because it's only making things worse imo. I think eventually people who do enjoy that content, eventually grow out of it, but there are some who get stuck into it.

Exactly, and they don't care. Back in the day when these shows were popular on TV, it was hugely popular. They used their guests, and asked them to be as crazy and weird as possible, because they knew they would do it for the money. Jerry Springer, Maury, and whoever else out there did similar shows, didn't care about the guests. They just wanted "Must see TV". That was the 90s and 2000s for you. Nothing but show to make fun of people and their situations.

It's trash but it also gives you a look into just how buffoonish the average individual is.
It does, because a lot of the people who went on these shows, only did it for money. They would act differently in the pursuit of money. And sadly, it made people look bad. And I don't think any of the people on these shows, realized how it would look to the people in their lives. Like, what would your friends and family think if any of us went onto Jerry Springer to air our dirty laundry all the while acting like fools?

I am guilty as well. That's why I started the topic. I remember enjoying shows like it when I was a kid. Because I was young and dumb and thought anything was funny. Looking back, I see how awful people were treated on those shows, how they were paraded around for people to laugh at essentially. No one went to Jerry Springer to get down to the source of their issues, they went to make money and to unknowingly be used by these shows.

Yeah they typically take advantage of the Subconscious Coons. At the end of the day all we can do is not watch. I wrote about the type of people that be on Maury here:

I'll have to check that out.

So am i,the only problem now is we have social media that keeps the goofy ish going, every time i open my IG i see a black girl shaking her 4ss in the camera. modern day minstrel shows.
Hmm, Doesn't IG show you things based on your search and browsing history? jiggalaugh

But I get what you mean. Social media is all about clout these days. Everyone and their moms want to be on IG shaking their asses. You'll see a lot of it on tiktok, instagram and even twitter.

I don't get it. I think it's mostly to do with our youth. Kids are dumb as hell and think a lot of this stuff is funny. It is like with that trend going on in schools. Kids are literally stealing stuff from bathrooms and acting like it's the funniest thing and are posting it to social media.

The sad truth is that this stuff still gets views by the millions, if not more. And if it's paying somehow, people are going to use themselves to make more.

The incentives are there and so long as they exist, it will keep happening. A friend was showing me that trend of stealing random things from their school. A lot of these schools are public and have minimal funding on top of it. Kids truly do not think, do they? I feel like most used to grow out of this but social media is incentivizing them to keep at it into their 20s and even 30s today. I can't tell you how many grown adults are out there acting like 12-year-olds on social media these days. It is sad.

Yeah these shows have been a big pet peeve of mine. I remember watching some of those shows when I was younger, and back then I didn't think anything about it. I just thought everyone on these shows were crazy or out of their mind. Now that I know it was money fueling them to act dumb most of the time. I understand.

A lot of the people on these shows were used. The producers knew they can get many to act dumb on camera for a little bit of money. They knew exactly what they were doing, exactly what type of show they were creating here.

That's the sad truth. People will do downright dumb things for money these days. It's depressing to see it still happen these days. I remember hearing about Judge Judy. It's far less of a problem, but in that show, people are asked to make their stories more crazy, some even are asked to make things up. That's a story for another time, but it goes to show that lots of people will dumb themselves down for money.

And with kids these days, it's def social media ruining them. The constant memes and dumb tiktok videos don't help as well.

I'm fine with most memes cause they don't typically spark stupid trends but the videos and the stupid content that goes viral does. I hate tiktok with a passion. It is like that vine platform but worse. I remember reading the most famous person on there is like some 16 year old white girl who lip-sings and dances horribly. How is that content worth liking or sharing? She doesn't seem to have any talent yet she has become her parents' provider.

Yeah, tiktok is a joke of a platform. It's a lot like vine. Sad thing is, that now Instagram with their Reels has kinda copied that and is pushing out short form content like vines.

Oh yeah, a lot of the famous people on those sites, are just women who do dances and lip-syncing. It's one thing I never understood about these sites. People who lip-sync becoming famous and then becoming singers, is just weird to me. People are getting famous because of lip-syncing. It makes no sense to me.

I can't make sense of it either. It is like every child actor becoming a singer when they hit 18... Just cause you can act does not mean you can sing. So many of those Disney girls got even more famous with bad voices.

    mjlol

It’s probably some producer that sees the revenue potential and talks them into it.

An easy way for pedos to slip in too. Promise a record deal in exchange for their disgusting fetishes. I heard some pretty sick rumors about Disney kids getting groomed to the top. Would not surprise me.
