These women aren't choosing thug and hood type dudes because there is a lack of responsible black men. They are choosing the hood dudes because that is their type. If you go according to the articles I put up above only around 20% of black men middle age fall into the "Tyrone" as you put it category. Around 60% are middle class and the other 20% are just beneath middle class or own their way there.

Unfortunately women in our community choose the "Tyrone" guys because that is what they want until they hit the age and realize that wasn't a good idea. That's not just black women either though. It's pretty prevalent in the Hispanic community too from what I see. I'm not sure about the stats in Hispanic community.

On the side of black people though it's not an excuse. Even if these stats were given a 5% margin of error it isn't an excuse. And I do realize you said generally. However I'd argue that they are "generally" choosing the "Tyrone" guys by choice!
